Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is likely to leave the club after the Copa del Rey final on April 26. The team has had a tough season, getting knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal and falling four points behind Barcelona in the LaLiga title race.

This follows Real Madrid’s disappointing Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal, who won 2-1 at the Santiago BernabĂ©u and 5-1 on aggregate. The defeat has raised questions about Ancelotti’s future at the club.

Sources say the 65 year old Italian will stay in charge until the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona in Seville. However, he is likely to step down after that match.

Currently, Real Madrid trail Barcelona by four points in the LaLiga title race with just seven games remaining. Although both teams are still chasing the domestic double, it is believed Ancelotti won’t be on the sidelines for the next El Clasico on May 11.

Ancelotti is also a top candidate to become the new head coach of Brazil. Reports suggest he could take up the role before the Spanish season ends.

After the loss to Arsenal, Ancelotti commented on his uncertain future; Maybe the club decides to replace me and maybe it could be this year, or next year when my contract is over... But when I am done here, I will be grateful to this club.

He also added: We have managed the bright side many times and we have won titles, but we need to manage the dark side too. We need to accept it because over the two games, Arsenal have been better than us.

Since rejoining Real Madrid in 2021, Ancelotti has won 11 trophies in his second spell with the club, including two LaLiga titles, two Champions League titles, and a Club World Cup.
